Sharp MX-M1055

The Sharp MX-M1055 is the small refresh of the MX-M1054 — same 105 ppm A3 monochrome production engine, minor controller updates, sold today refurbished for centralized print rooms doing 100,000 to 250,000 pages a month. It supports 105 ppm at 1200 x 1200 dpi, 11 x 17, heavier media, duplex print and scan, the older production panel, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB. The thing buyers regret: the gap between MX-M1054 and MX-M1055 is small in daily use — paying extra for the 1055 over a 1054 with similar meter and condition is rarely worth it. Compare side-by-side and buy on price, meter, and service history rather than the suffix. As refurbished kit with a low meter and a service contract, this is a solid B&W production box; without those, it is the same risk as the 1054 — a serious service liability waiting to happen.
