Sharp MX-4070N

The Sharp MX-4070N is a floor-standing A3 color laser multifunction in Sharp's Advanced N (2017) lineup, built for offices of 30-100 people that need in-house tabloid (11x17) and 12x18 color, plus heavier scanning than a desktop MFP can keep up with. It prints and copies at 40 ppm in both black and color, scans through a 150-sheet single-pass duplex DSPF (200 ipm mono / 106 ipm color, single-pass duplex), and is rated for a 300,000-page monthly duty cycle (Sharp recommends staying around 8,000-18,000 pages/month for sane toner economics). Standard paper capacity is 650 sheets across one 550-sheet drawer plus a 100-sheet bypass; you can expand to 6,300 sheets with the optional MX-DE25N/26N/27N stands or the MX-LC17N 3,000-sheet large-capacity cassette. The 10.1 inches color touchscreen handles the usual scan-to-network, document-filing, and Sharp OSA app workflows, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n is standard on this configuration. The thing it does better than peers in this speed class is the single-pass duplex scan that doubles as the workflow killer feature on the Advanced series. The thing buyers regret is color toner cost: if your color volume is under 10% of total pages, the cost-per-page math gets ugly fast — look at the mono Sharp MX-M3071 or MX-M3571 in the same chassis. Standard out-of-box: print, copy, color network scan, auto duplex; fax (MX-FX15) and Internet fax (MX-FWX1L) are dealer add-ons.
