Sharp BP-B550WD
The Sharp BP-B550WD is a 50-ppm desktop monochrome multifunction printer sized for small offices and workgroups of 5-20 people printing 1,000-3,500 pages a month. It prints, copies, scans, and faxes (Super G3 standard), with built-in OCR for scan to searchable PDF and Office formats. The headline difference versus the 540WR is the 100-sheet single-pass dual-scan DSPF at 130 ipm — more than 3x the scan throughput, which is the main reason offices step up to this model. The 7-inch tilting color touchscreen runs the same general Sharp UI as the bigger BP-50 floor units, so a mixed fleet of desktops and floor MFPs trains operators once. Standard configuration is a 500-sheet drawer plus 50-sheet bypass (550 sheets); maximum is 2,350 sheets across up to three optional 600-sheet BP-CS12 drawers, on the BP-DS14 high stand or BP-DS15 low stand. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB 2.0/3.0 plus Wi-Fi 5 standard (no adapter required), with AirPrint, Universal Print, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams folder, Box, Dropbox, and Gmail/Exchange in the base controller. Dimensions 19.4 x 21.6 x 24 in., 68 lb. — fits on a credenza. The thing buyers regret: speccing the 540WR when their daily scan volume justified the 550WD — the 540WR's 50-sheet RSPF becomes the daily bottleneck above 30-40 pages a day.
