The Sharp MX-M4051 is a 40 ppm A3 monochrome MFP from Sharp's mid-cycle generation, sold today refurbished for workgroups and busy team workspaces doing 7,000 to 16,000 B&W pages a month. It runs 40 ppm at 1200 x 1200 dpi, supports 11 x 17, has duplex print and scan, an early Android-based panel, Gigabit Ethernet, USB, optional Wi-Fi, AirPrint, and Mopria. The thing buyers regret: the in-between generation has awkward pricing — too new to be cheap, too old to win a 5-year cost battle against a new MX-M4071. Buy this only when the refurb gap is 30 percent or more. With that gap and a low meter under 2 million pages, this is a strong machine that handles shared use without complaint; without it, the new model wins on five-year cost. Workgroup classification means it is built for shared use by 5-15 staff, not single-user setups.
