Sharp MX-5140N

The Sharp MX-5140N is a 51 ppm A3 color MFP from Sharp's earlier workgroup family, sold today as off-lease or refurbished hardware. Volume target is 7,000 to 16,000 mixed pages a month for small offices and back-office teams. It supports 51 ppm color and B&W, 11 x 17, duplex print and scan, the OSA panel, Gigabit Ethernet, USB, and optional Wi-Fi. The thing buyers regret: parts pipelines for the MX-5140N are getting thinner — Sharp still supports it, but a complex repair (fuser plus drum plus controller) can sit waiting for parts longer than a current model. Confirm parts lead times with your dealer before signing a service contract. If parts are stocked locally and refurb pricing is sharp, this is reasonable; if your dealer has to source parts from regional warehouses, downtime risk goes up enough to wipe out the buy-side savings on a single bad service call.
