Sharp MX-B450P

The Sharp MX-B450P is a 45-ppm desktop monochrome laser printer for small offices and workgroups of 8-20 people that need a print-only workhorse with Wi-Fi standard and a 500-sheet drawer. It's the 10-ppm-faster sibling to the MX-B350P on the same chassis: PCL 6 and PostScript 3, 600 x 600 dpi, 500-sheet drawer plus a 50-sheet bypass for envelopes and heavy stock up to 80 lb cover. The optional MX-CS14N 600-sheet feed unit (max 1) pushes capacity to 1,150 sheets. First print drops to 5.0 seconds (vs 5.5 on the B350P), warm-up is 29 seconds, and the engine sits on a Quatro 5510 800 MHz controller with 1 GB of memory. Connectivity covers Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 (front host port for direct print, rear device port), AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and Sharpdesk Mobile for iOS and Android. The 5-line LCD handles job programs and admin without a touchscreen. Dimensions are 19.25 x 20.375 x 17.3 inches at 50.7 lb. Blue Angel certified. The thing buyers regret: paying the speed premium for volume they don't have. If you're under 2,500 pages a month, the MX-B350P is the same machine 10 ppm slower for less money. Best for offices that actually run the engine and want the extra throughput.
